Our friend "the deer"

Back in December, Justin went hunting and shot this deer. Pretty nice right? (I've been meaning to put these pictures up for months...oops!)
And as of a couple of weeks ago, his head is now hanging in our basement. It looks really nice and Justin is one proud hunter. :)

P.S. Keaton is a little bit scared of our new friend. He doesn't like to get too close or touch him too much. Ha, ha. He tries to convince himself that the deer is not scary by telling himself over and over- "Dad's deer is nice! Dad's deer is nice!" :)

Sunday dinner.

I guess I'm not the greatest wife or homemaker because our whole marriage I have just made regular old meals for Sunday dinner- easy things like, spaghetti, haystacks, or maybe funeral potatoes- despite the fact that I grew up in a home that had a nice traditional Sunday dinner every week- roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, carrots, and homemade bread- the works. I've just never felt inspired to spend the time learning how to make the one meal I feel like will never come to being as close to as great as my mom's.

Well, I finally broke down. Although I never posted a picture or said anything about it, Justin shot a deer back in December while hunting in Kansas! (I'll have to post the pictures from my phone, I don't have any on the camera.) So... suddenly we have all this deer meat and Justin informed me he was going to make us meat like my family has with their deer for Sunday dinner. So I did the potatoes, gravy, and corn and Justin cooked the meat.

So, here is the picture of our 1st official Sunday dinner. Doesn't it look yummy?!? Well, better luck next time I guess. Ha, ha. It wasn't awful, but something obviously went wrong with the seasoning process because the meat and gravy were pretty tasteless. I took this picture before we tasted any of it. The missionaries were over for dinner and they were so polite and helped us eat almost all of our taste free dinner. :)

But, we have a ton of meat, so you can bet we will be trying again soon!
