On Sunday night- May 30th- Justin and I were lucky enough to be able to have Brooklyn, Brinnlee, and Adyson come and stay the night with us! I've been wanting these girls to come visit for a really long time and since Justin had plans on spending ALL of Memorial Day- Monday, May 31st- working on his truck, I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with these super sweet girls.
(I am so, so, so sorry...I BLAB on and on and on here and I usually try really hard not to, but I guess I just had way too fun of a time with the girls and I can't help it...!)
(I am so, so, so sorry...I BLAB on and on and on here and I usually try really hard not to, but I guess I just had way too fun of a time with the girls and I can't help it...!)
Monday morning the girls all ate cereal with Justin for breakfast before he went outside (not to be seen again till dark :) ) to work on the truck. (For those of you who don't know...I HATE cereal and probably wouldn't eat it even if my life depended on it.) After breakfast I hurried to get myself and 3 girls ready for the day, (we had big plans!) so it was a good thing Heather had done cute braids in the girls hair the day before, and that they still looked cute because honestly I would have struggled doing all of their hair do's from scratch all by myself! (I guess that's one really nice thing about having a boy- I don't have to learn to do a little girls hair just yet ;) I'll have a lot to live up to when that day comes cause these girls mom's can do some AMAZINGLY cute and fun things with these girls' hair!)
Anyways... when I went to grab Ady so that I could fix her hair up this is where I found her- she had strapped herself into the bouncer and everything and just kept saying over and over again, "I'm a baby, I'm a baby!
Once we were all cutsied up and ready to go we headed on over to Lowe's where the girls helped me pick out some flowers to plant to put on our front porch. (I have been wanting to do this for a while and well, I've never really been much into gardening but, ever since Justin gave me the book The Remarkable Soul of a Woman by President Uchtdorf for Mother's Day and I read it again for the first time since I heard the talk in Women's Conference I haven't been able to stop thinking about how I should plant some flowers. And if any of you have read this talk then you probably understand why I had this feeling. And if you haven't read it you NEED to, it is very inspirational in so many ways.)
I think that several of the people that passed us at Lowe's probably thought I was crazy to bring all three of these girls with me, but they all were such good girls and were just the best little helpers! There was one guy that was in front of us when we were waiting in line to check out that insisted that we go ahead of him since I had all "my" kids with me and he kindly said he understood what a handful that can be. :) Then we saw the same man out in the parking lot when we were leaving and he hollered to us "I see you made it out of there!" and told him that yep we did and thank you again and then he said, "I have grandchildren about the same age as 'your' girls and so I guess it just makes me think of them to see 'your' girls." Ha ha. I wonder how old he thought I was/looked to have a 7, 5, and 3 year old- with one on the way- (not that he could probably tell I am pregnant really I'm still not showing all that much)!
The girls were a BIG help in picking out all the different kinds of flowers that we wanted to plant that were the most beautiful. And Brooklyn turned into quite the little gardener once it came time to get our hands dirty and plant and water these little guys. :)
Brooklyn picked out the big purple ones (which I can never rememeber the name of...).
As silly as it probably sounds I am so proud of my cute little flowers and everytime I walk out our door and see them I just can't help but smile at how cute they are as I remember that me and the girls planted them all by OURSELVES. :)
All day long I felt like such a good little homemaker and "mommy" of 3 for the day, all at the same time, and it really made me excited to one day be a stay at home mom and do all sorts of fun things with my kids each and everyday. I just hope my kids are half as cute as these WONDERFUL girlies are. :)
A picnic at the park and a trip to feed the ducks was next on our list of fun things to do. Our lunch was really nice- turkey and cheese sandwiches, cheese sticks, applesauce and watermelon- with a water bottle full of nice cold water to share. But the ducks must have already had their lunch before we came because they just sat there as we threw our bread at them and were probably a little annoyed when our aim wasn't the greatest and we accidently hit them with a few pieces...opps. :)
So, instead of sticking around by the ducks, and after Brinnlee told me how hot she was about a million times I finally gave in and let them play in the waterfall/wading pool at the park. (There were about a dozen signs around the little pool that said "no swimming" but there were also tons of other kids- and adults- that were playing in the water so I figured we couldn't get into too much trouble.) And the kids ABSOLUTELY loved it!!! And well, they were pretty good about only getting just a little wet. :) Then after playing in the water we talked Justin into taking a little break from working on the truck and we all walked to Artic Circle to get ice cream cones!
I was so sad when Tad and Heather came to pick up the girls. Our time together just flew by WAY too fast and I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye and really wished I just could have kept them for the whole entire week atleast, if not longer. :)
So with the girls gone I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself and decided that to keep up with the good wife, "mommy" and homemaker role I would prepare a really nice dinner for Justin. (This is also something I've been wanting to do- make something DELICIOUS enough to share it with others!) I honestly am not very good about making yummy dinners for Justin and I. I am just such a big fan of eating out- it's so easy and fun! And since I've been pregnant eating out pretty much always sounds like a good idea...either because I am having major cravings or because I just don't feel all that up to cooking... But last night I think I did an excellent job (if I do say so myself!) at making a very nice dinner. One I was proud of and that Justin REALLY loved!
See below if you would like to know how to make it.... parmesan chicken, twice-baked potatoes, and corn on the cob with lemonade to drink :)

I love days like that, Ashley. I love feeling kind of like a grown-up, especially when it's a grown-up homemaker. :) It's the best, and not too far away from the truth for you! Glad you had a good time, and I love your flowers too. The chicken looks really good, but I'm curious about the yogurt? Does it give it, mmm, like a bitter taste at all? I hate plain yogurt, but I'm always looking for new recipes. Can you let me know? It may be dinner later this week. :) Miss you Ashley! I LOVE and hate that we have blogs. We'd talk more if we didn't. But it's still fun.
