Yesterday Justin helped me give Keaton his very 1st haircut.
BEFORE-
Surprised face!
Keaton did fairly well while Justin cut his hair. For the most part anyway. He did have to have his binky in his mouth and a comb to hold in each hand and fussed a bit when we had to hold his head still, but other than that he did great. :)
AFTER-
He pretty much looks like he has no hair now... But, the cut was much needed, Keaton had way too many really, really long baby hairs and they just simply had to go. Maybe now it will grow back in nice and dark and thick? I hope?
After Keaton's haircut, and before bed Keaton joined Justin and Matt in a game of Halo. Ha, ha. He acts like he is just sooo into it!
"Is this controller working correctly??"
Midway between a silly face. His eyes look real strange here, but I still thought it was kinda a cute picture. :)
And, better late than never I guess, here is an update on our little guy now that he is 18 months old! (Has been for almost a month now...) We haven't been to his 18 month check-up yet, but I'm pretty sure Keaton probably weighs right around 22 ish lbs and is still probably about the same height he has been for a while? Ha, ha. He's a small little thing, yet he is starting to act more and more like a big boy every day.
*Keaton is now eating a ton better. (Thank you ear tubes!) He is still much pickier than I would like him to be and still has days where he won't eat practically anything, but most of the time he eats fairly well, and 10X better than he used to. His current favorites are goldfish crackers (of any flavor), mini Nilla wafers, chips, pop tarts, cinnamon Chex, waffles and syrup, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (um, sometimes), and has also started eating grapes and bananas too.
*He still has 1-2 bottles a day, depending on the day. And, the ONLY reason I even still give him a bottle is cause I can't get him to drink milk from a sippy cup AT ALL, OR get him to drink enough juice/gatorade/water from a sippy cup throughout the course of the day. ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?
*I still let Keaton have his binky, but only at naptime and bedtime. I'm thinking I will let him have it till he is 2? (Is that way to long?!?)
*Keaton is down to only one nap a day (usually), but on days I don't have to wake him up to go to work he usually sleeps in until 9 or 10 in the morning. :) It's lovely. And, then he goes to bed at night between 7:30 and 8:30 pm. So, I guess I can handle him only taking one nap. ;)
*Keaton has a small obsession with his "blankie." (He has a couple minky blankets that aunt Jana made him that he just absolutely loves!) He would carry his blanket around with him all day if I let him. Which I don't. Just like his binky, I only let him have his blanket during naptime and bedtime. Oh, and sometimes in the car on longer car rides.
*He has gone to nursery twice now and has stayed the entire time both times. He cries a bit when we first leave him and I think is a little shy around the other kids for a bit, but once we have picked him up he has seemed quite happy.
*Keaton still isn't talking... I can't even really think of one word he says that could possibly mean something (he does a lot of "baby talk"), but he has been really picking up on sign language lately and can now sign- "more," "all done," "please," and "thank-you." He looks so cute when he is signing and seems to not only understand what the signs mean, but he also seems to feel really proud of himself when he uses them. I am very proud of him too.
*Keaton is walking and pretty much running like a pro now. He hasn't really started climbing up on stuff yet, but I'm sure that day isn't too far off.
*He has a love/hate relationship with the bath these days- he cries when I put him in, immediately remembers he loves it, and then cries when I take him out.
*Keaton loves reading/looking at books and if I am reading my book he almost always needs to get out his books to read too. He doesn't really love having his books read to him yet, but I look forward to the day when he has just a little more patience and lets me read to him more often, even daily. :)
*He loves singing songs, especially songs with actions like, Popcorn Popping, The Wise Men Built his House upon a Rock, Once there was a Snowman, and The Wheels on the Bus.
*Keaton loves watching kid shows on PBS- especially Sesame Street, Word World, and Super Why!- he also is starting to like watching movies a little more too. I bought him a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse movie and he enjoys watching it quite a bit lately. Although, he does just as much playing as he does watching most of the time, which makes me happy. (I don't really like the idea of having a child that is addicted to the television, but I also think watching some of the shows, especially those on PBS are quite educational and fun, plus Keaton still loves listening to music and dancing and those shows have a lot of that which he really enjoys.)
*If you ask Keaton what a dog and a cow says, he will tell you "ruff, ruff" and "moo."
*He also knows and will point to his head, hair, nose, ears, tongue, and eyes if you ask them where they are.
*Oh, and it's super fun to ask Keaton to raise his hands above his head cause he gets all scared and will quickly raise and lower his hands as fast as he can cause he knows you are going to tickle him!!!
*Keaton is having a little bit of stranger anxiety lately and doesn't do too hot around new people- especially if they try to pick him up. It's a little annoying and I think makes some people feel really bad, but I can't do much about it and hope that it is just a phase he is going through.
Just like he has always been, Keaton is a happy, easy-going, really good little boy. I am one lucky mama that's for sure. This toddler stage has been so very much fun. I love seeing my boy learn and grow so much every single day.

Your little guy is a doll! I am totally with you on binkies until two, I would have let Nixon keep his until then but he lost the last one so he was without a little earlier than I was planning. I think with the sippy cups just keep trying to give them to him, if he will only drink out of a bottle let him have it just so he gets enough fluids but I would try to give him the sippy more often, or even a supervised straw might help break away from the bottle.
He is a doll Ash! Hope everything is going good with you!
I love reading your blog! I am glad you are all doing well and that Justin will be graduating! How exciting. Keaton is just adorable and so sorry about RSV. Yuck. I bet you are happy to stop working. I am jealous!
