Opps!

August 29th-
What happens when your child's car seat isn't buckled into the car.

It's time for a Keaton update! (Written on September 18th)

Keaton is now 4 years old! At his well check appointment he weighed just slightly over 30 lbs. and was 38 inches tall. While at the doctor he not only got his flu vaccine, but he also got all of his kindergarten shots! (He was so brave about it! He really did not want to get shots- who does?!- but he was so proud of himself after!) So, now he is all ready for school next year too!

Some of Keaton's favorite things to do are- build things (with his blocks or Lincoln Logs), read books, and sing (he never ceases to amaze me with how many different song lyrics he knows- from primary songs, church hymns, to popular songs from the radio).

Keaton knows all his uppercase letters by sight and all the alphabet sounds. He can write his name, MOM, and DAD, and also several other letters and likes to write other words with help. He can count to 30 (and more with a little help at 31, 40, 41, 50 etc.). He knows all of his colors and his shapes. He LOVES to read and has a really great memory and after reading him a book a couple of times he can "read it to himself" in only a slightly different version from the real thing. Keaton has been super excited to start school and really loves preschool so far! He always comes home excited to tell Justin and I about what he learned, what he had for a snack, who he played with at recess, and what new songs he sang during singing time. Keaton is a smart boy and really loves to learn.

Keaton only naps some days now. He probably doesn't need a nap everyday, but after a couple of days without one he really starts to struggle! He doesn't nap on Sundays (cause of 1 o'clock church) or school days (he goes to school Monday and Wednesday afternoons) but, I try to get him to nap the other days of the week. Although sometimes it is quite the battle. My big boy is outgrowing naps and I won't lie- it REALLY makes me sad! (I love naptime!)

Keaton loves to talk. And he talks all.the.time. Ha, ha. He loves to tell stories, or ask questions, or just talk about any random thought he has. Justin and I love this about Keaton most of the time... Ha, ha.

This boy is becoming less and less picky when it comes to eating. Yay! Keaton is finally starting to eat many of the foods he didn't used to like- namely pasta- and will even try most anything at least once and most of the time he ends up liking it! I love this! It makes my life as a mom just that much easier! Plus, (and mostly) it means that Keaton will grow up big and strong because of his love for healthy foods like fruits and vegetables! Keaton loves strawberries, grapes, cucumbers, and lettuce/spinach the very most lately.

Keaton has a temper sometimes! (This is normal for a 4 year old right?!) If he is really upset about something- especially when he is super tired and then gets upset- he gets really mad and can be mean! This is something that has been hard for me as a mom and something that I am trying really hard to be patient and loving with. Sometimes Keaton and I both need to take a big breath and a time out. Ha, ha. :)

But, most of the time Keaton is a really good, really loving boy. He loves to play with Aisley and is such a good big brother. Lots of mornings Keaton is the first one to say "Hello" to Aisley and he loves spending time with her in her room singing and dancing for her while she is waiting for me to come and get her out of her crib (I love these mornings- my babies make me so happy!). And, most days Keaton is happy to get Aisley lots of toys to play with, talk to her, tell her stories, he is so good about making sure there are no toys around that are too small for her to play with, and he is also great about closing the door to the basement so that she won't fall down the stairs. He loves to play outside and is getting really good at riding his big bike with training wheels. Keaton is always smiling, laughing, and trying to tell funny jokes. Just this morning, Keaton was next to me in my bed and I leaned over and gave him a big hug and he said, "Mom?" I answered, "What?" and he replied, "I love you!" My heart melts.

We love you too, Keaton!
