So, here we go with...
DAY 1- Wednesday morning Keaton and I packed up and then waited for Justin to come home from work. Once he got home at around 1 o'clock in the afternoon Keaton put on his Elmo backpack and grabbed his turtle pillow pet and we were off!
(I absolutely love this picture! My baby boy is not a baby boy anymore and this trip showed me that over and over again! :( Very very bittersweet.)
Keaton's backpack was stuffed full of books and toys and was very heavy so after I took the first picture he just had to sit down and rest for a minute before getting up again and walking all the way to the car. :)Our 1st stop- Wall Drug in the city of Wall, South Dakota. Have you ever heard of this place?!? It has a pretty cool story behind it, not to mention that it is talked about in The Walk Series by Richard Paul Evans that both Justin and I just read, which that alone is what made this a "must-see" stop on our trip. (If ya want to read a little about it go here. Or, if you are looking for a great inspirational book to read check out Richard Paul Evans The Walk Series- great reads!)
See the sign- "THE ICE WATER STORE?" Wall Drug first became popular when the owners starting advertising for and offering free ice water.
Keaton showing off his cup of free ice water. :)
By around 10 o'clock on Wednesday night we had made it to Rapid City, South Dakota and our hotel. And, there Keaton anxiously awaited the arrival of his Grandma, Grandpa, and aunts- Mckell, and Miryka!
Taking a ride on the luggage cart and lovin' every second of it!
About 45 minutes or so after we made it to the hotel Justin's parents and sisters arrived and after playing with Keat for a little bit we all went to bed so that we could be ready for our big day the next day! (It was almost midnight at our hotel by the time we went to bed- 1 o'clock in the morning Nebraska time- and I was really tired, but after getting Keaton to sleep Justin and I started watching a movie and I got hooked- and dragged Justin along with me- and we ended up staying up until about 3:30 am Nebraska time finishing this crazy movie called "Exposed." Needless to say we were both a tiny bit sleepy the next day. :) )
