I've been wanting to do a Keaton update for a while now and I was looking at these cute pictures of Keat that I have on my ipad and I decided they would be perfect to use as part of my update. :)
Keaton is 22 months old and is growing like a weed. Since we moved here a month ago Keaton has gained almost 5 lbs which is amazing for him! So, he weighs real close to 25 lbs now and although I don't know how tall he is I imagine he has probably gotten a tiny bit taller at least. :)
Here are some fun Keaton facts:
-Keaton hasn't had a bottle since we moved here to Nebraska at the beginning of June! He is starting to drink cold milk from a sippy cup and such a little better, but still struggles some days. So, we are currently working on that.
-Keaton is talking up a storm- he tries to say just about anything and everything that we try to say and does a lot of really cute baby jabber. He tells us "stories" all the time and I love it! Some of my favorite words that Keaton says recently are- "mom," "dad," "grandma," "grandpa," "Keaton," "two," (We are working on getting him ready to say how old he is in a couple of months!) "lell-o, (yellow) and "purple!" "Where dad go?" (which he says to me first thing every morning when he wakes up) "Where it go?" "There ya go," "There it is!" (when he hands you something) Choo, choo," (for all the trains around here) "pop, pop!" (for the fireworks we have heard and seen a ton lately) "Yeah!" (when you ask him a question or if he really wants something or wants to do something) and "No!" (when he doesn't want to take a nap, go to bed, or ride in the car :) ). (Don't love the no so much, but he is sure learning to use it well!)
-Keaton loves to play outside, swing at the park, and go on long bike rides with mom and dad.
-Keaton loves to eat! Yep, that's right this kid has finally found joy in eating and is eating just about anything and everything we feed him! Hallelujah!!! His favorites are spaghetti, lasagna, navajo tacos, pizza, hamburgers, watermelon, bagels, mini pancakes, and applesauce that you suck out of the container. ***As a side note- Keaton is now a really good eater, but along with that we also have on our hands an amazingly SLOW eater. Keaton takes FOREVER to finish a meal. He can sit content in his hair chair for hours sometimes just to eat breakfast or lunch. Most of the time I really don't mind- who cares as long as he is eating, plus he is confined to his high chair so I can get the things I need to done, but some days it can be maddening. :) Ha, ha.
-Keaton loves his daddy and wants to be just like him. For example, this past weekend Justin was hot after being outside in the lovely very hot and very humid Nebraska weather and when he came inside decided to take off his shirt for a minute. Well, Keaton was watching and of course had to have his shirt off too. You could just tell that Keat felt so cool to be doing what his dad was doing. :)
-Coloring is one of Keaton's new favorite things to do. (We are loving Crayola Color Wonder markers and coloring books lately.)
-Keaton doesn't really like watching tv as much as he used to, expect for when Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (He LOVES the "hot dog dance!") or The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland is on... then he watches pretty intently. He also really likes Mickey Mousekersize. :)
-Books are still an all time favorite around here and Keaton loves to look at books by himself almost as much as he loves when Justin and I will read to him.
-Keaton hates nursery. He cries as soon as sacrament meeting is over and it just breaks my heart. I'm not sure how to help him, but I sure hope that this is a phase we will get out of quickly.
-Keaton still loves to sing songs and dance. Just about any song with actions will do. He also really loves primary songs.
-Keaton is such a good little boy and has learned to fold his arms and be reverent during prayers. He even sometimes wants to pray by himself, so we help to say his own prayers and he jibber-jabbers a little prayer by himself almost every night at bedtime. :)
-And, perhaps the most exciting "my baby is becoming a big boy" moment of all, Keaton no longer has a binky! Yep, as of a week ago Keat quit cold turkey and has been doing great! He cries for a tiny bit longer at nap time and bedtime, but after a minute or two he is fine and goes right to sleep. (He hasn't really had his binky during the day for a long time- several months- except for sometimes at church, on long car rides, and at the grocery store or while I am shopping.) Now, we don't have to worry about it at all and it is great! I am so proud of my big boy!
Keaton is and always has been such a good little boy. We are so happy and grateful to have him in our family. He is a great blessing to us every single day. And, although I am sad that he seems to be growing up fast I am so happy that he is growing up to be such a happy, good, and smart little boy. Can't believe he will be 2 years old in just 2 short months!!!
